• 2005년 - 유튜브 창립: 인터넷 상에서 동영상을 공유할 수 있는 플랫폼인 유튜브가 스티브 첸, 채드 헐리, 그리고 자베드 카림에 의해 창립되었습니다.

YouTube, the world's leading online video-sharing platform, was founded on February 14, 2005, by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who were all early employees at PayPal. The initial concept behind YouTube was to create a platform where ordinary people could easily share their "home videos." The founders saw a gap in the market for a user-friendly video sharing service, especially after they realized the difficulty in finding video clips online, such as the incident from the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show and the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

The site quickly gained popularity, moving from a limited "beta" version in May 2005 to serving more than two million video views per day by its official launch on December 15, 2005. YouTube's growth was explosive, with the number of videos available surpassing 25 million by March 2006 and the platform serving over 100 million videos per day by the summer of 2006. This rapid expansion showcased the platform's ability to meet a significant demand for a video sharing service, leading to its acquisition by Google in October 2006 for $1.65 billion in stock. This acquisition marked the beginning of YouTube's transformation into a global media powerhouse, significantly expanding its user base, content variety, and revenue sources beyond just ad revenue to include paid content, exclusive productions, and a partnership program for creators.

Today, YouTube stands as the second most visited website globally, with billions of users and an enormous volume of content being uploaded every minute. It's not just a platform for sharing videos but also a significant cultural force influencing popular culture, internet trends, and creating a new wave of celebrities and content creators.
